Ombré painting adds drama to walls by gradually blending or fading from one color into another. The use of different hues of the same color or complementary colors, depending on the intent, can range from subtle expressions to bold statements. 

 

The use of stripes or other graphic elements is another technique to add additional  interest. 

In this example adding graduated, subtle stripes with an opalescent finish makes a statement in a limited space.
